How long does shrimp fried rice last
Shrimp fried rice can last 3 to 4 days when stored properly in the refrigerator. To keep it fresh, follow these steps:
Storing:
- Cool it down: Allow the fried rice to cool to room temperature before storing it to avoid condensation inside the container.
- Use an airtight container: Store the rice in a tightly sealed container or a zip-top bag to prevent air from getting in.
- Refrigerate immediately: Place the container in the fridge within two hours of cooking to prevent bacteria growth.
Reheating:
- Microwave: Place the rice in a microwave-safe dish, sprinkle with a little water, and cover it with a lid or plastic wrap to trap steam. Heat for 1-2 minutes, stirring halfway through, until it’s hot.
- Stovetop: Reheat in a pan with a bit of oil or water over medium heat, stirring occasionally until warmed through.
If you want to store it longer, you can freeze shrimp fried rice for up to 1-2 months. Just make sure to cool it completely before transferring it to a freezer-safe container or bag. When ready to eat, thaw in the fridge overnight and reheat.
What to Serve With shrimp fried rice
Shrimp fried rice is flavorful on its own, but pairing it with a few sides can make the meal even more satisfying. Here are some great options to serve alongside shrimp fried rice:
1. Vegetable Spring Rolls
- Light and crispy spring rolls filled with fresh veggies make for a great appetizer or side dish. You can find these frozen or make them yourself!
2. Asian-inspired Soup
- A warm miso soup or hot and sour soup would complement the flavors of fried rice well, offering a comforting contrast.
3. Stir-fried Vegetables
- A quick stir-fry of broccoli, bell peppers, mushrooms, and snow peas is a colorful and healthy side to balance out the richness of the fried rice.
4. Asian-style Pickles
- Kimchi or pickled vegetables like daikon radish can add a tangy, crunchy element that pairs nicely with the rice.
5. Cucumber Salad
- A refreshing cucumber salad with a light dressing of rice vinegar, sesame oil, and a touch of sugar provides a crisp contrast to the savory rice.
6. Grilled or Steamed Asparagus
- Lightly grilled or steamed asparagus with a sprinkle of sesame seeds or soy sauce can be a nice addition to balance out the dish.
7. Edamame
- Steamed edamame sprinkled with sea salt is an easy and tasty snack that goes well with any Asian-inspired dish, including shrimp fried rice.
8. Sweet and Sour Sauce or Chili Sauce
- For dipping or drizzling, sweet and sour or chili garlic sauce can add extra flavor and a bit of heat if you enjoy spice.
