Have you ever bought a bunch of raspberries, only to find they were moldy the next day? It’s very frustrating and can feel like you’re throwing food and new money into the trash. Raspberries are not only delicious, but they are an excellent source of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, and have been shown to protect against diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and more. . But although raspberries are very tasty, they are also one of the most difficult and perishable fruits.

How to store raspberries

Once the raspberries are dry, return them to their original shells or cracked ceramic containers. Air circulation is essential to keeping fruit fresh, so it’s important not to store them in an airtight container. 

Finally, you will store your raspberries in front of your refrigerator. Placing raspberries in the back of the refrigerator, or even in the crisper drawer, can cause them to spoil quickly. As we said, when properly stored in the refrigerator, raspberries should be fresh for about two days (maybe three days).

How to freeze raspberries
 
The sad truth is that raspberries spoil quickly, even if they are stored properly. If you want to keep raspberries fresh for as long as possible, freezing them is often a great option. Follow these simple steps to preserve your raspberries for up to 18 months:

  •  Check your carton of raspberries and discard any that are moldy or discolored. 
  • Gently wash the raspberries in a colander at least twice, being careful not to submerge them. Leave them for 10 minutes. 
  • Spread the raspberries on a paper towel and dry them, leaving no moisture.
  • Place the raspberries on a sheet of water covered with wax paper, making sure they don’t touch it. 
  • Place the sheet in the freezer for 2 to 4 hours, making sure to check the raspberries every hour or so.

Once the raspberries are frozen, put them in an airtight container or bag. When stored this way, raspberries will keep for about 18 months.

 How to thaw raspberries
 
Are you ready to use frozen raspberries? You can leave them to set in the refrigerator for about 12 hours, or, if you want to enjoy them quickly, you can put them on your kitchen counter and enjoy them as soon as they arrive in the room. Just make sure that you never put frozen raspberries in the microwave, because this can spoil the appearance and taste.
